World Book Day

We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 7th March. The aim of the day is to celebrate the joy and value of books and the art of reading. Children, and many staff members, attended school dressed as book characters and it was amazing to see the different costumes.

Tony Dallas, an amazing storyteller, visited Jessop and started the day with a great whole school assembly. Year 5 pupils had a real treat with his poetry slam workshops. Our Year 3 and 4 pupils took part in the Young Readers Programme event. Each pupil received a free book to take home.

This year, as with previous years, World Book Day at Jessop was a great success and we would like to thank all those involved – pupils, parents and staff. The joys and benefits of reading are enormous and we, at Jessop, hope to continue to encourage and enthuse all of our children with a love of reading that will last well beyond World Book Day.
